FolksLaggin
The lowdown on FolksLaggin
Our crew known as FolksLaggin started out just as a group of friends with an aircooled Volkswagen passion, or addiction, I'm not sure which. We've always enjoyed camping and BBQing together, and thought it was even more fun to get all our dubs together when we did so. Before we knew it, we were going to shows together and mixing the camping/BBQ thing in with them. After meeting alot of members from various, local clubs, as well as the show/camping season winding to a close, we decided that a monthly meeting would be a good idea. Basically an excuse for us to still get together with our VW's on a monthly basis if for no other reason, to hang out, and mabey draw some intrest of other air-coolers in the area. Well it seems to have worked! At our very first meeting we had like nine guests arriving in a variety of different types of VW's. A few of which are now members. And now we have two meetings a month and have guests showing up all the time.
Thanks for taking time to check out our site! Feel free to come to one of our meetings if you'd like. Don't be afraid to smile when you see us crusing through your town! And if you're ever at a VW show and see us, come up and say hi! Everyone in our group is very friendly. And on a final note, please smile and wave when you pass us on the freeway in the far right lane. As the name indicates, we are FolksLaggin!

What's new with the Folks...
The Spring Fling in Madera was the last event we attended. This is normally the first actual show that we attend, and a favorite of most of our members. Read the story below to hear about our weekend. The next stop for us is the Nor Cal Bus Fest in Vallejo. After that is Bugorama in May. Most of us camp at this one and it's a blast!
We also have a new meeting place due to unexpected Pizza Factory closure! Straw Hat Pizza on N. Main St. in Manteca is that place. And with the show season rolling, and the weather getting warmer, more people are coming out to the meetings. So come out and get involved, or miss out and roll to the show solo!
The Spring Fling in Madera...
This is normally the first VW show that the Folks attend. And alot of us make it yearly due to to it being one of our favs. This year, as always, we went up the day before the show. It's that or leave Manteca by 5am on the day of the show. (being 'Laggers, we don't usually get up that early on weekends!) Anyways, once we get there we get split up because half of us camp and the other half stay at the hotel across the street. We do, however, seem to hook back up for some "pre-show festivities".
The morning of the show generally starts out with some breakfast at the diner in front of the hotel. Followed by us trying to group up with our camping Folks in some common location in the park. This year was the first time that everyone showing was parked by class. Seeing how this would split up our club, we decided to be swappers instead. And with the new layout of the show, we had a spot all to ourselves (though we did have some great neighbors close by). Nobody came back with the big raffle prize this time. (A first?!?) Although some of us that came home with some extra money we made in the swap found that a refreshing change! We did run into a few minor VW issues, but everyone made it home with their VW's. Bring on Busfest and Bugorama!
